Photography had a profound impact on the art world. It created a whole new medium for artists to express themselves. Not only was a new medium created but arguably other art mediums were influenced. Edgar Degas was a famous French artist whose paintings have come under much debate as to what degree photography influenced him. Aaron Scharf and Kirk Varnedoe both debated unto which scale the influence of photography had on Art and mainly on Degas.  Their views conflict with one another on this matter.
